As a continuation of the series Exercise In Perspective I've placed this geometric object in front of a landscape view in the Swiss Alps (The object is a 40 by 40 centimeter glass window with oil painted circles in green and white).

Sao Paolo Sunset

'Sao Paolo Sunset' is the last from a series of three paintings including 'Re-Entry' and 'In The End' (see earlier posts) that deal with the concept of the Horizon. The painting shows the The Pinheiro River in Sao Paolo, which is one of the most polluted rivers in Brazil.

Re-Entry / In The End

The two paintings 'Re Entry' and 'In The End' originated from the concept Horizon and is part of my larger fascination for 'Landscape' and how we perceive it. The horizon is always present, though it retreads as fast as you try to approach it; it's never to be reached. Within this simple fact it has becomes an icon of longing, soul searching and setting out on a path towards greater things. A second idea for these paintings is coming from the means through which we experience this idea Horizon. First hand experiences from the back of the carseats looking through the big window of the car while being on holiday or second hand, through newspapers, images or the movies.

Zero

'Zero' is the first in a series of abstract forms that will make up the series 'Event Horizon'. Classical geometric shapes from history are combined with original newly invented shapes.

This series of small models use the idea to look at an office building as a human body. I focussed in this case on airconditioning installations and underground parking spaces, looking at them as the lungs of a human body, providing the building with all oxygen and energy that's needed for the building to survive.
